Jessica started her quest over 3 years ago to collect tabs, scrap the metal and donate the proceeds to Shriners Hospital for Children. This hospital treats children with little or no health insurance who have been stricken with orthopedic, spinal cord and burn injuries. Shriners Hospital has performed over $400k worth of surgeries on Jessica giving her the increased independence she has today. A jar in an office break room, on a kitchen counter or a school teachers desk could easily turn into a sizeable donation. If everyone pitches in, we could meet Ed's goal of 2 full 55-gallon drums (thats 800 lbs) in time for his fundraising deadline which is August 27th. On August 27th, the 33 barbershop will host festivities at
***Although this drive ends on August 27th, Jessica will continue to collect tabs for the Shriners Hospital for children*** Jessica, presenting a check for $2000 from tabs collected in 2008

Please continue to collect those tabs and help us show Shriners our sincere appreciation Please check back soon to see our new and expanded website showing: If you have any questions or comments please email us - Jessicastory88@aol.com

Up until Five years ago.......
Jessica was just an active teenager in her sophomore year of High School. She was a cheerleader for the Hamilton High Pop Warner.
She was a member of her schools drill team as well as a star T-Ballplayer.
She danced for the Dance Shop in downtown Hamilton,
aunt, niece, cousin, and friend.
During her stay at Magee, Jessica endured 8 hours a day, 6 days a week of intense physical therapy, as well as occupational and recreational therapy. As a result of this intense therapy, she has gained a great deal of upper body strength and was able to have a surgery called tendon Transfer Surgery. This surgery has given her increased strength in her arms and hands and with continued therapy, she will be able to use a manual wheelchair instead of the power chair she now uses. This surgery was made possible by The Shriners Hospital for Children in Philadelphia .
Although the surgery was a success, she still relies primarily on her power wheelchair to get around but is able to use a manual chair for short distances.
In the last few years Jessica has endured several more surgeries, not only to enhance her quality of life, but also to save her life.
